Sharps Rifle Serial Numbers

Hello, I need help with identifying the rifle I received from my father. I'm not so much interested in the worth as much as the history and what type this exactly is. What I do know is that it is a Sharps.45cal rifle. All of the ones I have found have the plate on the stock and the wood does not go as far down the barrel as mine does. Patent names and dates that are stamped on the rifle are: C. Sharps Sept 12, 1848 C. Lawrence April 12, 1859 R.S.

Lawrence Feb. 15, 1859( this patent date is located on the rear site) The Serial number is:C,48424 I have attached some pictures to help with the identification. Hello, Thanks to this forum my Sharps rifle has been identified as a New Model 1863 Sharps Rifle Serial Number 148424 and gave me a little bit of history. However, I'm wondering how much this gun is worth? I've been trying to do some research on it but none of the similar guns I have found are a perfect fit, the other Sharps either have the buttstock storage plate and/or the wood does not go as far down the barrel as mine. Oct 14, 2013 - There is a number on the inside surface of the patch box cover, but not the same as the serial number on the receiver or handguard. Any input would be. Has been in the Sharps rifle business for over 35 years and more importantly has been in the business of producing some of the finest quality. Sharps serial numbers have a '74' prefix, I.E. (That is, assuming the rifle in question is an 1874.) They keep production records as does Shiloh.
