It seems to me MLU, multiple custom curves, and a closest focussing setting using only the central sensor would be nice additions to the D70. I for one would happily pay US$20 for such a firmware hack, even if it only gave one of the above features. Accufast Kt Tabber Service Manual. Remembering of course that now we have a flashable firmware from Nikon we coulld easily go back to stock.

Now, if 100 of us were willing to pay $20, we'd have enough to commision the Russian 300D hacker to do a D70 hack and buy him a D70 to do it with, as he'd need one for testing, and I believe he only has a Canon. Of course we might also lose our $20, but hey isn't life a gamble anyway? If enough are interested I'd be happy to try and get such a project underway.

Now that would enable the forum members to really benefit the D70 community. Before someone raises it I should note that the firmware download from Nikon Asia does not require agreeing to any licence or restriction on its use. I think the problem is, that the Canon firmware hack was a. It actually had the function in the software, just had to be enabled by changing a bit or two. Probably not so with the D70.

I shall not say the russian cannot do it, but what I say is that it might very well be a lot more difficult than the 300D hack. Furthermore, I believe it should be done by Nikon. Mostly to avoid problems with future firmware upgrades. Nikon, you can do it. Best regards, Morten Wartou.
