Dsi Games On Sd Card HackDsi Games Onto Sd Card

So we have a DSi in my house, and I really like it so far. One of my favorite features is the external SD slot. However, I think the next thing Ninty needs to implement is support to transfer your games onto the external SD so that you don't need to carry your library with you wherever you go! Solution: A software update that allows the transfer of the ROM files of games onto an SD in the slot.

Basically the software should copy the ROM/necessary files onto your external SD and put some sort of security footprint on the original game cartridge to prevent transferring the ROM onto multiple SDs at once. Rinse and repeat for all the games you want to put on it, then head on your merry way with all of your original game carts at home. I think this is a logical evolution forward in addition to the DSi Shop and its downloadable games. Any opinions on this concept?

Unlike Wiiware games DSi games are rather small also does the DSi has more internal memory (corect me if I'm wrong) compared to the Wii, i doubt that there will be storage issues any time soon and even then i thinkt that Nintendo will opt for letting people transfer games (or chucks of them) to the external SD. Since the games are rather small it also does not take long to redownload them after you've ditched them in order to create space. It might happen one day but no time soon that's for sure. @Endogene said: ' Unlike Wiiware games DSi games are rather small also does the DSi has more internal memory (corect me if I'm wrong) compared to the Wii, i doubt that there will be storage issues any time soon and even then i thinkt that Nintendo will opt for letting people transfer games (or chucks of them) to the external SD. On the subject of getting your games back onto the DSi. I can't remember the exact option in the menus, but there is one that erases your shop account, so any games bought are gone for good, even if you copied them onto SD card first. No re-downloading them in the shop, no copying them back off SD. However, I think the next thing Ninty needs to implement is support to transfer your games onto the external SD so that you don't need to carry your library with you. However, there is probably a major problem in that it would be difficult, or probably impossible to stop you from copying your friends games to the SD card and.

'I think (I could be wrong) he was referring to retail games. @oldschool: If he was talking about retail games then I'm pretty sure that that will never happen, thankfully there is always the option for those who do want such a thing to buy a flash card and rip all their games to it. Looks like the DSi has 256Mb of internal memory, not that much really. I think DSiWare games will be the biggest problem when it'll come to storage. Gameboy roms for example are only a couple of hundred Kb, GBA games were about 5Mb.

Edit: I've found a list of file sizes of certain DSiWare games, the biggest game (real football 2009) is about 16Mb • Pyoro - 12 • Real Football 2009 - 124 • WarioWare: Snapped! - 77 • Art Style CODE - 99 • Nintendo DSi Browser - 91 • Paper Plane - 12 • Art Style Aquite - 92 • A Little Bit Of. Mario - 32 • A Little Bit of. Magic Made Fun: Funny Face - 25 I'm starting to get the impression that it is already possible to copy DSiWare to the external SD. @Endogene said: ' @oldschool: If he was talking about retail games then I'm pretty sure that that will never happen, thankfully there is always the option for those who do want such a thing to buy a flash card and rip all their games to it.
