Quarter grades will be determined according to the following: 70% - quizzes, tests, projects, and essays. I take the percentage of points earned out of total possible points. I.e., a student with grades of 18/20, 87/100, 5/12, and 21/25 has earned 131 points out of 157; her average in this category is therefore 83%. 15% - homework. I do surprise spot checks of homework completion almost every day. Students starts with a “preparedness” grade of 100%. For every time homework is not complete, I dock 10 points.
I collect workbooks at the end of each unit, and calculate the percentage of exercises satisfactorily completed. Exercises must show accurate corrections to count as complete.

• You are required to cover your textbook in a book sock or paper cover. • If you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to: • get notes to copy from a classmate • check our class website for the homework assignment • make up all homework within one day of your return to school • Quizzes and tests will be announced in advance. If you arrive illegally tardy to school or to class, you will not be given extra time for completion or allowed a make-up. If you are legally absent on the day of a quiz or test, you may be allowed to take a make-up. Please consult the handbook to know what constitutes a legal absence.
